Those Precious Little Moments

I read a quote yesterday about how babies are only babies for such a short time. And it’s true, I don’t know how many times I’ve been told “it goes so fast” by more experienced parents. I have to say that the last four and a half months have flown by and I know I’m only at the beginning of my parenting journey.

But it’s so important to cherish those precious times – that first gorgeous smile in the morning, the happy gurgling, the snuggles (oh how I love the snuggles), the quiet times together, the noisy times together, watching your baby discover things for the first time (leaves, I cannot believe the fascination with leaves! In fact it makes me look at leaves differently!), even those nappy changes where you’re challenged between changing the nappy and stopping your little one’s hand going into the delightful mess you’re trying to clean up!

It’s the togetherness I love, just being with my little man and knowing that he loves being with me. I know that this won’t last forever, it’s only natural that one day being with his mum won’t be the be all and end all for him. But for now it is, and it really is worth living in the moment. In fact I think being with a baby is good mindfulness practise. After all, if you really make the most of savouring those little moments with your baby you find yourself living in the moment and being mindful. Even changing that dirty nappy can be a calming experience!

So I’ll leave it there as I go off and enjoy a Saturday full of special little moments – happy smiles, new discoveries, lots of noise (my little man has definitely found his voice!), cuddly snuggles and, of course, those dirty nappies!

Happy Saturday everyone!
